Bright Sight: An Eye-Opener In Cataract Treatment
Chandigarh, January 15: GAUGING the level of advancement of cataract in a person’s eye was subjective till now, depending on the patient’s feedback to the doctor. With the new Oculus Pentacam Eye Scanner, this handicap can be done away with, explains Dr S.P.S. Grewal, CEO of the Grewal Eye Institute (GEI), Sector 9, where the scanner was formally inaugurated today. This is the third installation of the diagnostic equipment in the country.
GEI today organised a symposium for practicing ophthalmologists of the region on the applications of the Pentacam Scanner in refractive surgery, on the GEI premises.
‘Procedure is non-contact and painless’ According to Dr Grewal, the scanner is the first in providing reliable, accurate and objective diagnosis of cataract, screening of candidates for LASIK Surgery and enhancements of results in refractive surgery and diagnosis of closed-angle glaucoma.
