Bausch & Lomb Vision Laser OK'd
ROCHESTER, N.Y., (UPI) -- Bausch & Lomb said Monday its new laser system designed for refractive eye surgery has been approved for market.
The company said the Food and Drug Administration has approved the 100 Hertz excimer laser, to be used as part of its Zyoptix Personalized Laser Vision Correction System.
Bausch & Lomb said it new laser is one of the fastest laser vision-correction systems on the market, doubling the speed of its currently marketed laser system.
"The 217z100 laser reduces treatment time with the Bausch & Lomb Zyoptix system by half," said Bob Anello, Bausch & Lomb's director of refractive marketing. "This reduction in treatment time comes on the heels of dramatic efficiency gains already achieved through a number of recent upgrades to the Zyoptix system," he said.
The new laser system will be available in July, the company said.
